Theres a lot to organise!!

Since deciding that we wanted to cycle from one end of the country to another we have investigated further using the wonder that is the internet and made a few decisions based on this. The first being that we are going to start from John O' Groats and make our way down to Lands End. This is purely because as we live in the South West it would be quite nice to finish our challenge and be home a couple of hours later. People have said its easier going the opposite way as the wind is normally with them but it will be quite motivating doing it this way as the nearer to the finish we get the nearer we are to home as well. I have also got a bike sorted from my girlfriends dad who is a keen cyclist and paul is getting his put together from his girlfriends dad too so we are looking good on that front. We havent set a date for our little adventure as i havent got permission from work yet, a minor problem, i hope! Apart from that we havent done anymore but i suppose these things all take time. We will be doing it for charity, Paul works with the Devon Air Ambulance, not as a pilot thank the lord, only joking Paul and so is raising money for them whilst i thought id raise money for the Ward i work on at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Hopefully we will be getting a page set up on the internet but that is another job we have on our list, blimey, its getting long!!

Apart from the organisational aspect that we havent got very far with yet, we have done a bit of training. Apart from the small rides which we do randomly we have gone for a couple of longer rides. We have done a thirty mile ride and a twenty five mile one. These havent been the longest but nearly all of the route is up and down so hopefully we are getting in good shape. Its tough on the hills but doable and I for one certainly feel it after the ride so it cant be doing any harm.

Oh and apologies for the stupid photos!

And so it begins!

So while on a friends stag do last week ,congratulations Reedy, my friend Paul and i decided we wanted to achieve something this summer apart from watching the world cup and doing badly in the darts league. We came up with cycling from John o Groats to Lands End pretty randomly but once mentioned it was seized and agreed upon, in fairness we were hungover and possibly still under the influence, lol. This is going to be tough as we both have little to no cycling experience and are not the fittest pair of 26 year olds around and the distance is around 1000 miles. But where would the challenge be if it was easy. As of now we are only in the planning stages and have nothing actually organised but this blog will track our progress from complete beginning to, hopefully, final completion. Fingers crossed!!!
